Possibilities to distinguish types of warehouses
- Rack with compartments or racks
These are bookcases that are equipped with shelving boards or fixed or movable compartments. The best-known example of this type is a bookcase. Storage items are in containers or in their original packaging. The advantages are both hassle-free marking of goods and easy organization of the storage system.
- Cassette rack
Large length goods, such as rods, profiles, or pipes, are stored in cassette racks. A bottle rack is a typical example of this type of storage. The advantages are the ease of finding goods and the trouble-free introduction of the storage system.
- Assortment or drawer rack
An assortment rack or drawer rack is a special form of compartment rack. This stores small quantities of small parts in transparent sliding containers. The advantages lie in easy overview and easy use (numbering). The disadvantage is that this type of racking cannot be flexibly adjusted to changes in quantity and type of assortment. An example of this type is assortment boxes from a home improvement store.
- Regał paletowy lub regał wysokoobciążeniowy
Unlike a compartment warehouse, it lacks compartments. Instead of on sleepers, pallets are placed on stable crossbars. Such racks are created for high loads.
In addition, the following types of shelving can be listed:
- Paternoster rack
- Circulation rack
- Sliding rack
- High rack
- Regimental rack
- Adjustable bookcase
- Running rack
