Type of warehouse
Due to the choice of different criteria (function, activities, etc.), warehouses can be assigned to different types.
By function :
- Supply warehouse (raw material warehouse/goods receiving warehouse): supplying production with material
- Production warehouse (semi-finished/transitional warehouse): storage between production steps
- Distribution warehouse (finished product warehouse, output warehouse, shipping warehouse): storage of finished products until they are shipped to the customer
By type of activity :
- Unit warehouse: in this case, uniform units of cargo are stored and can be retrieved in the same way. Unit warehouses include high storage, flat storage and compact storage for storing pallets, containers and crates. These types of warehouses are easy to automate.

- Flat storage (up to 6m)
- High flat storage (6 - 12 m)
- High storage warehouse (> 12 m)
- Stacked warehouse (several flat warehouses one on top of the other )
