Flat storage is a system of storing general cargo. In this type of storage, stored goods are placed directly on the ground. Containers, racks, pallets and crates often serve as auxiliary materials during such storage.
Brief description
Flat storage facilities are divided into block storage and row storage. In the case of block storage, goods are stacked in blocks on top of each other over a large area, so that direct access is only possible to the outer batches. In the case of row storage, goods are also stacked on top of each other, but in rows, which allows access to more goods without the need for additional shifting.
Advantages
Flexible storage
No rack construction costs
Low investment
Disadvantages
Setting height is limited
Poor ability to mechanize
The LIFO principle applies - only external batches of material can be taken from the warehouse
