Poka Yoke
The concept of Poka Yoke is used to catch errors in the production process by eliminating their most common sources.
Brief description
Poka Yoke is the concept of increasing quality by eliminating the most common sources of errors. It is used to catch errors in the production process. The primary goal of Poka Yoke, however, is to eliminate errors by recognizing the underlying causes of errors, and appropriate, simple measures are taken to avoid and recognize deficiencies. Classic examples of this concept include passing on only parts without defects, reducing costs associated with corrections, reducing complexity through either standardization or lowering inspection and quality processes.
The Poka Yoke concept can be divided into 3 main groups:
| Design | Avoiding expansion and construction-induced process errors |
| Process | Intelligent planning of production processes and means of production, in such a way that unintentional errors in production become as little as possible to occur |
| System | study of the interplay of partial systems in the overarching system interconnection, the intention is to identify potential weaknesses, particularly at interconnection points |
