Import sales tax is a tax levied on the importation of goods from third countries into the intra-Community area.
Brief description
Along with customs duty, this tax is the second fee that is levied on the import of goods from third countries. The customs duty creates an actual cost item for the company, and the import tax, while it must be financed in advance, can be settled in the course of the tax declaration with a prepayment for the tax. The purpose of the import sales tax is, to burden consumption that is covered by imports with a domestic tax.
The basis for settling sales tax on imports flows from the sum of the value of the goods, costs for freight, customs duties as well as consumption tax, if any.
