The term Andon originated in Japan and refers to a system for presenting measures for improving operations. With the Andon system, when there are disruptions, erroneous functions and other errors, employees trigger the signal for corrective action.
Brief description
If an employee discovers an error in a machine or product on a production belt or at some assembly, he has the option with the help of Andon auxiliary materials (Andon line or Andon button) to trigger a light signal. This informs the supervisor of the current production status and forces him to stop production (the so-called Q-Stop). This signal appears on an Andon information board, which must be clearly visible to all employees.
