The TIR carnet (Transport International Routier) is an international customs document in which customs goods are transported without transshipment across one or more borders from the customs office of departure to the customs office of destination, if only part of the route is traveled by road.
Brief description
In order to be transported with a TIR Carnet, the vehicle or container must be customs-secured, lockable and equipped and marked with TIR plates. Inside the European Union, a TIR Carnet is used if the goods will be transported through the territory of a country outside the Union.
