The term (abbreviated SKD; English: partially disassembled) describes the type of manufacturing that is used for export, to some countries do not send complete machines, kits or vehicles only due to customs concessions only assembly or partial modules are sent.
Brief description
In the case of SKD or its extended form CKD (Completely Knocked Down), the idea is that the products are not completely finished, but partially assembled or transported quite disassembled. The reason for this action is often the very high entry duties (in the case of vehicles, for example) charged by importing countries. In contrast, partially or completely disassembled machinery or vehicles are cleared with much lower tariffs. This procedure therefore saves money and offsets the cost of final assembly in the receiving country.
