The Gantt diagram is a well-recognized tool from the field of Projectmanagements, with which a variety of activities can be represented on a time chart.

Brief description
A Gantt diagram is a bar chart created by business consultant Henry Laurence Gantt (1861-1919) that reports on the progress of a project and its progress. This type of presentation is often used to graphically show which (partial) tasks of a given project at what point they should begin and at what point they should end. Thus, they also assist Gantt-Charts in planning the resources that are needed for the project.
In Gantt-Chart, individual activities related to the project are entered in table lines. The columns function here as timelines. Individual activities are depicted on specific lines in the form of longitudinal bars. The length of the bar expresses the length of the task. Intersecting activities are represented as overlapping bars. Gantt diagrams are able to show the length of given activities over a longer period of time. The disadvantage of the diagram, however, is that the relationships between different activities are presented in a very limited way. For this purpose, the network planning technique is more advantageous.
