Customs duties may be introduced on imports of goods from non-EU countries to protect their own markets. For example, duties are introduced on textiles from China, while computers and computer parts are exempt from customs duties upon entry. To achieve international standards, goods and types of goods are grouped by tariff numbers (H.S. codes - harmonized system).
