Production control and planning system

By production control and planning system we mean a computer-supported organization for planning, controlling and controlling the production flow in terms of quantity, timing and capacity.

Brief description
This system deals with the operational, temporal, quantitative and, if necessary, also spatial planning, steering and control and, consequently, also the management of all the runs that take place in the production area of the enterprise.
The basis of current systems are programs for solving product lists. These are further processed and supplemented with further functions. Through this, MRP I systems and further MRP II systems were created.
The evolution of these systems is as follows:
  • MRP I (Material Requirements Planning)
  • MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning)
  • MRP III (Money Resource Planning)
  • ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
These systems as finished products are supplied by many different manufacturers or are specially developed for a particular enterprise, otherwise such a system is generally implemented in any ERP system.
Tasks and objectives
The areas of primary and material demand planning, mileage scheduling, capacity alignment, sequencing planning, availability planning and order release, as well as data collection and control, are the task areas of production control and planning systems. They are related to systems for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
