Materials management is understood as the acquisition, transportation, storage, reuse and disposal of materials, unfinished products, waste, trade goods, spare parts, benefits and information. Not all functions apply to all facilities.

These intentions can be brought together as an economic optimum. The goal of material management is to make the acquired objects available in the necessary quantity, type and quality, as well as at a given time and in the right place, and at a favorable price. The measuring quantities of effective material management are: sufficient service and delivery readiness, cost reduction, low resources and short execution time.
