Value stream mapping describes a technique from Lean Management used to visualize and analyze the flows of goods and information needed to deliver products and services to the customer.

Value flow is understood as occurring within the framework of this technique, all value-creating activities created to satisfy customer needs. Value flow design is a tool for depicting the flow of materials and information and their interconnections to support process redesign and interfaces.
The goal of this method is (starting from the starting point of the flows) to create a narrow system and implement the necessary steps and solutions. Value flow design is to create transparency as well as unified understanding for all processes in the company and as a result of synchronization of partial processes also to avoid activities that do not bring value or orientation to flow thinking.
