Third Party Logistics (3PL) describes the assignment of warehousing and logistics activities to logistics service providers. It represents the „third party” between the manufacturer and the end customer or trading company.
Brief description
Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers refer to third-party logistics service providers that offer various services and services in the logistics area. Unlike Fourth Party Logistics (4PL), however, these service providers have their own equipment and machinery in the classic areas of transportation, transshipment and warehousing to be able to take over the service for their customers.
3PL service providers are also referred to as Lead Logistics when they take over the adjudicating processes from the contracting company.
