Portable data collection
Portable data collection is a system that enables the direct capture of operational data within an area (warehouse area) using portable data collection devices.
Brief description
Portable data collection devices are used to electronically identify relevant labels or stickers with which products, shipments, warehouse locations, etc. are marked. The information can be read with pen-type readers, scanners or similar devices, and is found immediately afterwards in electronic form for disposal. So-called handheld terminals are increasingly common these days. These devices are equipped with operating systems and have the following equipment: scanner, display, keyboard.
Portable data collection devices transmit recorded data, for example, via a transmitter, Infrarot or Bluetooth, to a superior IT system, which can further transmit the data to the appropriate location and present it in real time. The system is generally used in the warehouse area to control the movement of goods, during inventory, as well as during converse and repair work.
