Efficient Replenishment
Efficient Replenishment and Continuous Replenishment are parts of the ECR concept. They correspond to “efficient procurement of goods” and define cooperation in the areas of information and communication, as well as logistics.
Brief description
The procurement system used is replaced by a process that is tailored to the customer and actual demand, thus optimizing the flow of goods and information relative to its efficiency. Efficiency here means shaping the flow of information via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and the flow of goods with little handling.
Tasks and objectives
The goal of Efficient Replenishment is to create an efficient distribution system in which production is controlled by customer demand at the point of sale. The consumer should be supplied “with the right product in the right place at the right time in the right quantity and quality.”.
