Material flow is understood as the combination of all processes involved during: gain, development and processing, as well as storage and distribution of materials within established sectors (enterprises).
Brief description
Material flow describes activities such as developing, transporting, applying, storing, checking, etc., which occur during the course of production.
Material flow is further described by the following three components:
The functional component considers the relationship between the preparation, transportation and storage methods to be used. The spatial component is concerned with the physical arrangement of the manufacturing system in existing structures or structures that need to be created. The last aspect describes the behavior of material flow in terms of time.
