The initial run in transportation describes the transport of goods from one or more shippers to the transshipment point (Hub) at the shipper.
Brief description
The term initial run is used in road transportation as well as in air and sea transportation. For example, an origin run is said to occur when a shipment is picked up from a customer by a truck and delivered to an airport to be exported from there. The term origin run is also used in group transportation, when a larger number of shipments are picked up from different shippers and gathered at a single transshipment point.
