Who was the customer?

The client - one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of hygiene and medical supplies - was faced with the need to increase capacity warehouse due to a change in the operating model and personalization orders.

Customer challenges:

So far, the company has used simple conveyors and manual pushing of goods, which, with the growing number of orders, began to be a bottleneck.

Biggest challenges:

  • No room for a standard linear automatic solution - The layout of the hall did not allow the insertion of a classic transport line.
  • The rising cost of manual handling and the need for personnel savings.
  • The alternative was to build new hall, which would generate high investment costs.

The customer needed compact solution, which will fit in the existing hall and will enable further expansion in the future.

A solution designed by Intralog

We have designed and implemented storage mezzanine integrated with conveyors and flow racks, specifically tailored to the specifics of customer orders:

  • Compact conveyor and racking system allowed for quick and easy picking of goods directly into shipping cartons.
  • Control of completion at each stage - Among other things, by weighing products, which minimizes errors.
  • The whole thing has been planned for expansion - in line with trends of order growth and increasing personalization.

After 2 years The client came back to us with a need for expansion. The system was expanded to include next floor, creating a two-story mezzanine with identical functionalities.
