Customer logistics operator and e-commerce store
Who was the customer?
The client was a logistics operator serving an international online store operating in markets in Poland, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. The company had to manage a high throughput - up to 1,800 products per hour - while dynamically adjusting the process to accommodate a variety of product sizes.
What customer had an intralogistics problem?
The client's main challenge was the need to optimize the process of receiving and sorting goods, which was previously based on manual processing of products. Employees manually measured, sorted and entered data into the system, leading to numerous errors and increased operation time. Manual handling increased costs associated with hiring additional personnel and the need to expand warehouse space. High labor costs and limited warehouse space further complicated process management. The company wanted to increase efficiency without increasing the number of employees.
A solution designed by Intralog
We designed and implemented an Auto-Inbound system that fully automated the receipt of goods and the sorting process. Key elements of the solution included:
Automatic product dimensioning and identification - The Auto-Inbound system enables automated measurement, labeling and validation of products using barcodes, eliminating errors associated with manual data entry.
Sorting on the fly - Goods are dynamically assigned to the appropriate bins by the integrated WMS system, enabling error-free sorting and precise control.
Cross-docking - selected products can be routed directly to dedicated cross-docking containers, eliminating the need for additional storage.
Integration with WMS system - Auto-Inbound has been fully integrated with the client's proprietary WMS, which ensures a smooth flow of data and allows for faster and more efficient receipt of goods.
Results: What did the customer gain by implementing the solution with Intralog?
The implementation of the Auto-Inbound system has brought tangible benefits to the client:
Optimize the number of FTEs - Automating key processes has reduced the need for additional personnel, resulting in lower operating costs.
Reducing the time to receive goods - With the automation of receiving and sorting, the costs associated with receiving goods have been reduced, and the system's throughput has reached up to 1,800 products per hour.
Operational accuracy - The Auto-Inbound system has provided the 100% with product recognition efficiency through barcodes, as well as the 100% with repeatable product sizing and weighing.
Quick return on investment - The investment in the Auto-Inbound system paid for itself within three years through reduced labor costs and increased operational efficiency.
