Grabowski Logistic is a logistics operator that handles furniture deliveries from manufacturers to end customers. It transports a variety of products - from sofas to mattresses - and operates on a cross-docking model, where goods go through the warehouse without long-term storage. The main task is to quickly process and sort furniture of various sizes and distribute it efficiently to destination stores.
What customer had an intralogistics problem?
The main challenge was to effectively manage internal logistics in the area of unloading and sorting furniture in a large space. Manual transport to the other side of the hall (500 m) was becoming inefficient, lacking space and transparency, which affected the speed and correctness of the sorting process. RFID-tagged pallets, moved on carriers, required an automated approach that would speed up the process while maintaining a variety of goods sizes.
A solution designed by Intralog
At Intralog, we developed an automated system with 1,000 480 kW motors for Grabowski Logistic, optimized for a throughput of 300 pallets per hour with a movement speed of 0.5 m/s. To make the system run smoothly, we worked with the architects and the hall contractor, taking into account aspects such as proper excavation and installation of the conveyors flush with the floor. The solution was installed within three months, providing an optimal warehouse layout and a highly efficient unloading and loading process.
Effects, what the customer gained
The solution implemented by Intralog allowed to increase the effectiveness about 100% In terms of the timing of operations. In the case of unloading, productivity increased by 80%, and on loading the optimization was 50%. Thanks to modern automation, Grabowski Logistic has gained a significant advantage in handling large orders, enabling the efficient and rapid flow of goods, resulting in greater end-customer satisfaction and reduced operating costs.
